Mealime closes on 21 October 2026

Looking for a Mealime alternative?

Mealime has announced that it will close on 21 October 2026. Its notice says the app is being replaced by Meals Hub inside Albertsons Companies’ grocery apps, and that personal data will be deleted when it shuts down.

If those stores aren’t yours, or you’d rather not keep up a weekly plan at all, Shalotte works the other way round: show her what’s already in your kitchen and she tells you what to cook tonight.

Before 21 October

  • Save the recipes you love. Mealime says personal data is deleted at shutdown, so screenshot or write down your favourites now.
  • Note your diet settings and dislikes. You’ll set them again in whichever app comes next.
  • If you paid for Pro, Mealime says its Pro features are now free and you won’t be charged again before the shutdown.

What changes if you switch

Mealime starts from a plan for the week. Shalotte starts from your kitchen. Here’s how the things you used it for carry over.

If you used Mealime for: Planning the week’s meals
She suggests what to cook tonight from what you already have, so there’s no plan to keep up with.
If you used Mealime for: A grocery list
When a recipe needs something you don’t have, it goes on your shopping list in one tap. After the shop, Done Shopping puts it back in your kitchen.
If you used Mealime for: Diets and dislikes
Tell her your dietary needs once, such as vegetarian, vegan or gluten-free, and she cooks around them. Always check ingredients yourself if you have an allergy.
If you used Mealime for: Quick recipes
She only writes methods for the equipment you have, and every recipe shows its time up front.
If you used Mealime for: Cooking along step by step
Cooking mode walks you through each step, and Ask helps with a tip or a swap halfway through.
If you used Mealime for: Your favourite recipes
Scan a cookbook page or a screenshot and she reads it into your recipe book.
